Taking a language test on Examinizer is free. The result, your CEFR level, score, and accuracy, appears immediately after the last question at no cost. The $8 certificate is something different: a PDF document with your name, your level, and a verification code that proves the result to anyone who needs to check it.
What the free result gives you
After the test you see your CEFR level (for example, B2), your raw score (for example, 19 out of 25), and your accuracy percentage. You can screenshot this or note it down. The result is accurate and useful for self-knowledge, understanding where you stand before applying for a job, starting a course, or preparing for IELTS.
The free result does not have your name on it. It cannot be shared as a credential because there is nothing to verify. Anyone could claim any level without a certificate.
What the $8 certificate gives you
The certificate is a PDF document that includes your full name, the test name, your CEFR level, your score, the date, and a unique 12-character verification code. The code looks like EX-XXXX-XXXX and is linked to your result in the Examinizer database.
Anyone, an employer, a recruiter, a university admissions officer, can go to examinizer.net/verify/, enter the code, and see your confirmed result in about 10 seconds. The certificate does not expire.
When the free result is enough
If you are taking the test purely for yourself, to understand your current level, to decide whether to apply for a role, or to track your progress over time, the free result is sufficient. You do not need a PDF to make a personal decision.
If you are preparing for IELTS or TOEFL and want to know your starting level, the free result gives you that information without any cost.
When the certificate is worth paying for
Pay for the certificate when you need to show your level to someone else. Job applications are the most common use case. Adding a certificate with a verifiable code to your CV or LinkedIn profile turns a self-reported level into an objective credential.
The certificate also makes sense when you are applying for roles in countries where language requirements are taken seriously, when you are competing against candidates who have certificates, or when you want to demonstrate initiative and thoroughness in a job application.
At $8, the certificate costs less than most test preparation books and significantly less than any formal language exam. The question is not whether you can afford it, it is whether your situation requires it.
